About

Welcome to Mukurati Art!

At Mukurati Art, we believe creativity is for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, our studio offers a supportive space to explore and grow your artistic skills.

Founded in 2019 by Heidi de Villiers - a qualified artist and registered high school teacher with over 20 years of experience - Mukurati Art was created to share a lifelong passion for both art and teaching. Heidi holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), and has taught hundreds of students of all ages through private lessons, group classes, and high school programs.

The name Mukurati originates from Mukurati Game Farm, a rural property in the Waterberg region of South Africa, formerly owned by the founder’s late father, Mike de Villiers.

Based in Sheldon, Brisbane, our studio offers:

  • Private and group art lessons

  • Workshops for all skill levels

  • Personalised commissioned artworks

We specialise in both wet and dry media, across 2D and 3D art forms, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.

At Mukurati Art, it’s not just about making art - it’s about making connections. Connections between people, places, ideas, and the joy that comes from creative expression.

Join our creative community and discover what you’re capable of!
